Part 2: Categorization of Abilities for Epic Generals
In the previous article, you were introduced to all the Epic Generals and their abilities in detail. this section lists all categories identified for abilities and groups the generals under each category, explaining their inclusion so that you can easily choose your best generals, find abilities that complement or oppose each other, and find synergies between them.
1. Offensive Abilities
1.1. Direct Damage
Generals with abilities that deal immediate damage to enemies:
- Cheng Pu (“Swift Retribution”) – Target 2 random enemies.
- Guan Ping (“Phoenix Soars”) – Target back-row enemies.
- Guan Yinping (“Phoenix Soars”) – Target 3 random enemies.
- Wen Chou (“Lone Courage”) – Target front row enemies.
- Xing Daorong (“Splitting Mountain”) – Target front row enemies.
- Xu Chu (“Frenzied Tiger”) – Target 2 random enemies.
- Xu You (“Provocation”) – Target 3 random enemies.
- Zhang Xingcai (“Star Strike”) – Target 3 random enemies.
- Yu Jin (“Skilled Warrior”) – Target 2 random enemies.
- Zhou Tai (“Tiger Warrior”) – Target 3 random enemies.
- Zhang Zhao (“Direct Counsel “) – Target a single enemy.
- Yan Liang (“Recklessness”) – Target the enemy with the lowest HP.
1.2. Damage Over Time (DoT)
Generals with abilities that inflict ongoing damage over several turns:
- Wen Chou (“Lone Courage”) – Burns front row enemies.
- Yan Liang (“Recklessness”) – Bleeds the enemy with the lowest HP.
1.3. True Damage
Generals with abilities that bypass defenses, dealing pure damage:
- Wen Chou (“Valiant General”) – stunned targets.
- Yan Liang (“Loyalty”) – bleeding targets.
2. Defensive Abilities
2.1. Health Regeneration
Generals with abilities that restore HP over time:
- Zhang Zhao (“Direct Counsel “) – 2 random allies.
2.2. Damage Reduction
Generals with abilities that reduce incoming damage:
- Cheng Pu (“Defensive Stand”) – Self.
- Cheng Pu (“Ke Di”) – Self.
- Guan Yinping (“Martial Inheritance”) – Self.
- Wen Chou (“Tiger and Wolf”) – Self.
- Zhang Xingcai (“Axe Punishment”) – Self.
3. Control Abilities
3.1. Stun
Generals with abilities that prevent enemies from acting temporarily:
- Xing Daorong (“Feigned Surrender”) – Target one enemy.
- Xing Daorong (“Sounding the Gold”) – Target all enemies.
- Yu Jin (“Skilled Warrior”) – Target 2 random enemies.
- Zhou Tai (“Tiger Warrior”) – Target 3 random enemies.
4. Debuff Abilities
4.1. Defense Reduction
Generals with abilities that lower enemy defense:
- Guan Yinping (“Snow Hatred”) – Target front row enemies.
- Zhou Tai (“Solo Valor”) – Target the enemy with the lowest HP.
4.2. Attack Reduction
Generals with abilities that lower enemy attack:
- Zhang Xingcai (“Star Strike”) – Target 3 random enemies.+
4.3. Speed Reduction
Generals with abilities that lower the speed of enemies:
- Cheng Pu (“Swift Retribution”) – Target 2 random enemies.

5.1. Attack Boost
Generals with abilities that increase attack power:
